Internship Support for Art, Design, and Art History Students
Internships and fellowships are often underpaid or unpaid and rarely cover accommodations or other related expenses. This project will allow JMU Art, Design, and Art History students to accept prestigious internships that they might otherwise need to turn down for more lucrative summer work.
Your gift will help allow students in Art, Design, and Art History to participate in exciting internships and fellowships that can launch their careers in the arts. Through internships, students gain valuable experience in Art, Architecture, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Museum Studies, Art History, and Art Education.
We hope to raise $5,000, which would allow the school to support 10 summer internships at $500 each.
"I have been fortunate to intern for the Madison Art Collection and Lisanby Museum. The most important lesson I have learned from the internships is: A museum profession is a reality and not a fantasy. I am passionate about creating inclusion and accessibility, becoming an advocate for diverse communities, and supporting the educational needs of patrons. This realization would not have been possible without my internships."
